To view this article, you will have to register on the Medscape website, but fear not, registration is free and Medscape website has tons of great articles which I intend to share with you in future, so you will not regret registering with them. It will only take a few minutes of your time.

My interpretation:

This is a great article for anybody who wants to learn about the dietary choices they need to make to either reduce their chances of developing hypertension or improve their blood pressure control if they already have hypertension.

The article explains in great detail the different food components you need to focus on to get a great blood pressure control. You are going to have to focus on increasing your protein intake, while at the same time choosing healthy carbohydrates found in fruits and vegetables, and limit your intake of starchy carbohydrates. Also you will have to try to reduce your saturated and trans fats intake and instead utilize poly and monounsaturated fats which are healthier.

Please remember that you will have to decrease your intake of SUGAR and SALT if you want to be successful in your diet plans. I know it is hard, but if you put your mind to it, you can do it. Many of my patients have been successful in preventing hypertension and managing their blood pressure by controlling their SUGAR and SALT intake and you can be too. You just have to believe in yourself.

If you have been wondering about the various diet plans including DASH diet, Mediterranean diet or intermittent fasting, this article will help guide you to make the right choices for your situation.

Over the course of more than a decade of my professional interaction with patients, I found them struggling with their diet more than anything else. Most people, when forced to exercise, are able to find some time for it, yet when they sit down to eat their meals, the temptations of unhealthy foods swerve them in the wrong direction. Please do not fall into this trap. You will not achieve control of your blood pressure until you get your diet right. So take charge and get disciplined with your diet and don’t forget to post your comments. Please also share with me what is the one big take home message you got from the article.

I thank you for taking the time to visit my website. We have a lot of work to do to defeat the menace of hypertension. Please join me in my quest to eradicate this disease from our planet. This is the best gift we can give to our future generations.
