About Me

Piracha_KashifMD_HMWB_07Thank you for visiting my website. Let me take a few brief moments to introduce myself to you.

I am an actively practicing physician in Houston, Texas with 15 years of clinical experience. In 2000, I completed my medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. Later, I completed residency in Internal Medicine at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia from 2003 – 2006 and fellowship in Nephrology & Hypertension at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York from 2012 – 2014. I am board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. My professional experiences have involved working in multiple healthcare settings both as a hospitalist and a nephrologist. These include outpatient clinics, acute care hospitals, acute rehabilitation facilities, hemodialysis units and long term acute care hospitals.

Even though my expertise extends a broad landscape including internal medicine, all of its sub-specialties in general and nephrology in particular, my main focus of interest is in the epidemiology, population demographics, risk factors, evaluation, treatment and prevention of hypertension. Hypertension has been deemed the silent killer because it can cause a lot of damage without causing significant symptoms, which leads to it going unnoticed for long periods of time. It is my dream to envision a world free of hypertension and its complications. Due to my passion for hypertension, I obtained certification from the American Society of Hypertension as a Clinical Hypertension Specialist. I am also a member of American Heart Association’s Hypertension Council and actively participate in the activities of the council.

It is my intent to provide fresh, innovative and useful content through this website about hypertension and related subjects. I hope you like it. Please do not forget to post your comments.
